Sanja Brkanović is the founder of RegioGro, a Belgrade-based research consultancy working across the European Union and the Western Balkans. She has more than 16 years of professional experience in public policy research, monitoring and evaluation, risk assessment, ex-ante and ex-post evaluation, training and programme implementation.
Her work focuses on regional and rural development, the Common Agricultural Policy, agricultural labour markets, territorial development, sustainable tourism and evidence-based policy design. She has contributed to studies and assignments for the European Commission, the European Parliament, DG REGIO, DG AGRI, ESPON, EPRC, the World Bank, IUCN and other international and public institutions.
Sanja holds a double Master of Science degree from the University of Copenhagen and University College Cork in sustainable development and EU food policy. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems and is a registered dietitian in Canada.
She is currently completing a doctorate in New Media and Communications at the University of Belgrade. Sanja has been professionally active in the Western Balkans since 2015, contributing to projects in Serbia, Croatia and across the wider region. She is fluent in Serbian, English and French and has a good working knowledge of Spanish and German.
